The accused directly headed to the rear seats, took the bag with money and fled the scene. “Four special teams were formed based on a complaint lodged by the staff and 23 people were engaged in monitoring CCTV footage to track them,” superintendent of police (SP) of Kanyakumari district V Badri Narayanan told TOI.
The vehicle was tracked all the way to the Kaliyakkavilai check post bordering Kerala that is 30 km from the scene of crime. The police realised that the registration number of the MUV used by them (KL 01 BV 3142) is fake. Inquiries revealed that Gopakumar, who joined the firm three months ago, had planned the robbery along with the four others. The accused have been identified as Sajin Kumar, 37, of Kuttiyanikadu, Rajeshkumar, 40, of Perumkadavila, Suresh Kumar, 34, of Paliyodu, Kannan, 29, of Mavarthala Veedu and Gopakumar all from Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala.
They were booked under sections 170 (personating a public servant) and 392 (punishment for robbery) of the Indian Penal Code and remanded in judicial custody.
Badri Narayanan said the income tax department in Tirunelveli had been informed about the money involved to trace its source.

Is all the accused in disguise (masked) are original? Is there any meaning in publishing the photograph of Accused arrested with mask? Is it possible for readers/viewers to scan beyond the mask to understand the Accused involved in the crime. In the movie MANITHAN, in a scene Police engage the Hero acting as a lawyer, to act as a missing Accused with mask to fool the court for a fee. So the Courts should order Police to supply real time photographs of Accused arrested for publishing in the media and certainly not the masked Accused. POLICE/MEDIA CANNOT FOOL PUBLIC ALL THE TIME.Read allPost comment
