Four members of Chennai family die by suicide in Tiruvannamalai
TIRUVANNAMALAI: Four members of a family from Chennai died by suicide in a farmhouse in Tiruvannamalai.
The deceased have been identified as Mahakala Vyasar, 45, of Vyasarpadi in Chennai, his wife M Rukmani, 40, his daughter M Jalathri, 17, and son M Mukunth Akash Kumar, 15. They used to undertake a pilgrimage to the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai every year.
Police said the family reached Tiruvannamalai a few days ago and stayed in a farmhouse on the girivalam path.
The family did not come out of their room after a long time on Saturday morning. Farmhouse staff members found that the family had locked the room from inside. They felt suspicious and alerted the Tiruvannamalai taluk police.
A police team reached the farmhouse and broke open the door. They found the four members of the family dead. The team recovered the bodies and sent them to Tiruvannamalai Govt General Hospital for postmortem.
The police found a suicide note and a video clip in a mobile phone declaring that they decided to end their lives to reach God’s feet. They declared that no one was responsible for their decision to end their lives.
