Four charred to death in accident at Ulundurpet

VILLUPURAM: Four people were charred to death when an Omnibus rammed a truck, triggering a fire on both the vehicles, at

Ulundurpet

in Tamil Nadu on Friday early morning.


Ten others, who sustained bruises while trying to escape through emergency exit, were sent to Ulundurpet Government Hospital.

Police said a private Omnibus with around 25 passengers was heading to

Madurai

from Chennai. The accident happened at around 2 am near

Ajeez Nagar

in Ulundurpet while the bus was trying to overtake a cement-laden truck.

The deceased have been identified as bus drivers P Alexander (59) and M Sakthivel (58), and a woman passenger in the bus- C Monisha (21) of Aruppukottai. The truck driver, who also died in the accident, is yet to be identified.

On information, the Ulundurpet police and fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies.
