CHENNAI: Disqualified
AIADMK legislator P Vetrivel, who released a video of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J
Jayalalithaa in hospital, has filed an anticipatory bail petition in the principal session court in Chennai apprehending arrest in a case registered in connection with the issue.
Agreeing to hear the case on an urgent basis, the court on Friday said it would take up the application post lunch.
On December 20, the TTV Dhinakaran loyalist released a video of Jayalalithaa in a hospital bed. In the footage, Jayalalithaa is seen in a night dress, apparently watching TV and having a sip of juice.
Releasing the video, Vetrivel had said he had no other option than releasing it as a lot of controversies were floated on the death of their leader.
He had said the timing of release had nothing to do with the RK Nagar bypoll. However, police registered a case against Vetrivel based on a complaint filed by the Election Commission.
Apprehending arrest, he has approached the court seeking advance bail.
