CHENNAI: Acting chief justice of the
Madras high court justice T
Raja on Tuesday asked lawyers and litigants to maintain social distancing and wear masks to prevent spread of Covid-19.
When proceedings of the first bench commenced, justice Raja noticed the court hall was crowded. “Only advocates who are arguing their case can remove their mask. Others should wear their face masks,” he said.
The ACJ wondered why the court was crowded as virtual mode of hearing was available in view of surge in Covid-19 cases.
“Already three or four judges have been infected by Covid-19. We have imposed these restrictions for your best interest,” the ACJ said.tnn
