Flyover from EVR Periyar Salai to Nelson Manickam Road to be inaugurated today

Chennai: One section of the three-flyover project near Anna Arch on EVR Periyar Salai will be opened today. Chief minister J Jayalalithaa will inaugurate it at 11am on Tuesday.
The section from EVR Periyar Salai to Nelson Manickam Road will be inaugurated and will be opened to traffic immediately.
The whole project is being built at a cost of Rs 117 crore and has seen several delays - some technical, some political.
Three L-shaped flyovers form the project. One starts on EVR Salai and while one arm of this flyover loops back to the arterial road to go towards to Central station, the other arm goes straight towards Anna Nagar and Shanthi Colony.
The other flyover starts on Anna Nagar 3rd Avenue and turns right towards Koyambedu. The third one - which is now being opened - starts on the arterial road and turns right on to Nelson Manickam Road. "The other flyovers will be opened by June," an engineer from the metro wing of the state highways department said.
