The fares are high as people are returning after the long weekend holidays from domestic and international destinations after the Easter weekend.

As there are fewer flights, the fare is high for those travelling from Madurai and Tuticorin to the city. Fare from Madurai to the city is 9,500 to 10,000, and 8,000 from Tuticorin for Sunday. There is only one flight available from both these destinations.

An Easemytrip study shows that there is a 40-50 % increase in advance air ticket bookings and a 60% jump in hotel bookings for the long weekend. .

"The travel sentiment and booking rates are at an all-time high, and travelers are growing more confident to embark on their travels," said Nishant Pitti, CEO & co-founder, EaseMyTrip. Though metro routes have more than eight flights on Sunday, the demand is high because of those who return from abroad.

Tambaram

. The fare has touched 1,350 for sleeper class and 3,000 for AC III tier for travel on Sunday. Railways should try to run one or two specials from the south."
