CHENNAI: Taking cognisance of a photograph published on May 19 in The Times of India, which showed a lorry illegally discharging untreated sewage into the Adyar river near Anakaputhur, the police have booked a case against the lorry company.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Pammal municipality commissioner R Chandra on May 21. The police have brought charges under IPC Section 277 (fouling water of public spring) and Section 278 (making atmosphere noxious to health).
