Film director booked for negligent driving

Chennai: Police have booked a case against ‘Manjal Veeran’ director Chellam Senthil for driving a car rashly and hitting a biker on Nelson Manickam Salai in Choolaimedu early on Tuesday. YouTuber 'TTF' Vasan, who is the lead actor in the movie, was also in the car, police said.The traffic investigation wing police have booked Senthil under section 279 (rash driving) and 337 (wrongful restraint) of IPC after a video clip of the accident went viral. However, no arrests were made.As per sources, the car that Senthil was driving was overspeeding. The vehicle lost control and rammed into a pole near a petrol bunk after hitting a biker. Visuals of Vasan arguing with a person, who captured a video of the incident, have gone viral. Anna Nagar traffic police have registered a case and are analysing CCTV footage of the accident.
