CHENNAI: The Egmore police arrested a film agent and two of the three small-timeactors he hired to act as Anti-Vice Squad (AVS) officials to take revenge on his friend on Thursday. The gang forced the victim to part with his car, laptop and debit card, police said.
The arrested were identified as D Ramesh of Puducherry and Maki alias S Mahendran and J Babu (29) of Pulianthope.
A hunt is on for Daya Shankar.
R Gurunathan of Thanjavur and Ramesh were in the sex trade. Gurunathan allegedly sent a HIV-positive woman to Ramesh a few months ago and the latter "decided to take revenge," Egmore inspector P Dana Selvan said. The three hired by Ramesh met Gurunathan on September 8 posing as AVS men and said they wanted to hold an inquiry. They in the name of an inquiry took withdrew Rs 15,000 from Gurunathan's debit card and pushed him out of his car at Pulianthope. Gurunathan lodged a complaint on September 9.
