On Monday, he filed a complaint against Arul Raj, the headmaster, and has asked the police to take suitable action against the school authorities.
In his complaint, Mannuswamy stated that his daughter used to score low marks in examinations and that the headmaster humiliated her in front of other students.
"He had told her that she was only fit for rearing cattle and wanted her to leave the school. My daughter told this to me. So my wife and I went to the school and pleaded with the headmaster to allow her to write her Class 10 examination. However, on March 6, Arul Raj once again humiliated her in front of other students. She came home and hanged herself using her school uniform dupatta," Mannusamy stated in his complaint.
Mannusamy and his wife were not at home when the incident happened. "We have lost our dear child. No parent should have such an experience and teachers like this have to be arrested for harassing students," Mannusamy said.
Police, however, stated that the girl had a problem with her spinal cord and did not attend school regularly. "We are interrogating the headmaster," said the police officer.
