Four die in TN road accident
THANJAVUR: Four people, including two women, died and seven others suffered injuries when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in rammed the parapet of a culvert near Sethubavachathiram in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Saturday.
The accident happened they were proceeding to Velankanni church.
Chief minister M K Stalin announced a solatium of Rs 3 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

Sad, Unfortunate. Is 11 people travelling in SUV permitted? Who was at wheel and that person holding valid driving licence? TN chief minister extending solatium to the kin of the victims is misleading. When every motor vehicle is registered and insured, let the insurance companies pay an interim solatium first. However, if the accident occurred due to State Government officials' apathy ignoring any hinderence on the Motoring roads, which caused the fatal accident, then the state must suitably extend compensation, even to the injured.
