Chennai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths have arrested an Andhra Pradesh native for posing as a joint director of CBI and promising favour to public servants and others in connection with cases registered against them by different central investigative agencies.
The CBI said that the accused, Srinivasa Rao, demanded expensive gifts from the people he met claiming that they would be given to senior officials. Malepati Chenchu Naidu, Uday Bhaskar Goniguntla, Srinivas Rao Penupothula are some of the names the man allegedly met during his stay at Madhyanchal Bhawan and Tamil Nadu Bhawan at New Delhi since November 22. He promised an officer cadre job in the CBI to the son of one of these people.
CBI said he lobbied with a few others to get No Entry Permit (permission for vehicles to ply during ‘No Entry’ restriction timings in Delhi / New Delhi) from the Delhi police for 2,000 vehicles of the company ‘Porter’. TNN
