CHENNAI: The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI, Chennai, has booked an Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) joint director in the Madurai sub-regional office for allegedly demanding a bribe from EMG Yadava Women's College, Madurai, to delay payment of outstanding dues owed to ESIC by the institution and assuring a waiver of damages.
The accused ESIC official has been identified as R Thineshkumar.

K Rajmohan, a representative of the EMG Yadava Women's College, has also been booked.
In three cases, the college owed a total of Rs 7 lakh and damages to the tune of Rs 4 lakh to ESIC. Thineshkumar assured the college of a waiver and demanded illegal gratification in return, the CBI said in an FIR registered on Tuesday.
The duo was supposed to meet at 2pm on Tuesday, it said. The CBI said it made out a regular case based on reliable information.
