Equiniti India to hire 800 people for its Chennai and Bengaluru centres
CHENNAI: Equiniti India, the global capability centre of UK-based Equiniti group, has inaugurated its new and second office in Chennai and has plans to add around 800 people in its Chennai and Bengaluru centres in the coming year.
"India has a young, educated and highly ambitious workforce, and we are trying to create a critical mass here in India for the group...At the end of 2021, we had around 950 employees, and by the end of 2023, that number had risen to around 1,500, and by the end of this year, we would expect to have around about 2,200 people servicing all of our global operations here from India," Paul Lynam, group chief executive officer, Equiniti, told TOI. "To put it into perspective, more than one out of every three of our global employees will be based here in India," he added.
Equiniti is a leading provider of professional shareholder, pension and remediation services in the UK and the US. The company works with 70% of the FTSE 100 companies.
Anticipating increased IPO action and financial markets growth in the coming year, the company is ramping up its team at a time when traditional and larger financial services companies are either implementing hiring freezes or cutting jobs.
Anand Ramakrishnan, managing director of Equiniti India, said the team in India also works on core business process, core technology, a lot of the financial shared services and HR functions.
"We have around 450 high tech colleagues working on some of the latest technologies, including developing new platforms," he said.
Equiniti has around 1,500 people in India with around 65% based in Chennai. The India team works on areas including shareholder solutions, pensions solutions, employee benefit solutions, KYC Operations, customer experience services and others.
