EPS urges TN govt to ensure hygiene in all govt hospitals
CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday urged Tamil Nadu govt to ensure hygiene in all the govt hospitals in the state, including Chennai’s Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital.
Citing media reports, EPS said in a statement that unhygienic conditions prevailed in Chennai’s Rajiv Gandhi Govt Hospital, which was surrounded by sewage emitting a bad smell and puttig the patients and the public in danger of contracting diseases.

“Reports say sewage stagnate outside cardiac and neurology wards in the hospital. There are reports in the media that people coming to see the patients have to wade through sewage. Patients have not been able to use the toilets for the past week since they (toilets) have not been disinfected or cleaned,” he said.
Palaniswami recalled his previous statements where he had urged the govt to fulfil vacancies in hospitals by giving priority to frontline workers who served during the Covid-19 pandemic.
