CHENNAI: EMU services towards Chennai Beach from Arakkonam and Gummidipoondi were affected for a few hours on Saturday evening after a few BRN wagons of a freight train derailed.

According to railway sources, the freight train heading towards Tondiarpet crossed the Beach station when the derailment happened. The wagons derailed around 5pm.

Railway officials rushed to the spot and tried to put the wagons back on track. Services were affected till around 7.30pm.
