Elephant tramples man to death in Tamil Nadu

UDHAGAMANDALAM: A 70-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant near Nellakottai in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu in the wee hours of Thursday.
Police said Amsa, a resident of Pakna village, came out of his house to relieve himself at around 3am. As it was pitch dark, he could not see the elephant approaching him. It trampled him to death.
The area falls under an elephant corridor.
A postmortem was conducted on the body at the Gudalur Government Hospital.
Forest officials handed over a sum of Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim’s family.
