NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recovered Rs 1.5 crore following a multi-state search operation conducted on Friday in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The searches were carried out in connection with a case under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) involving 'Empuraan' producer Gokulam Gopalan and his company, Sree Gopalan Chit and Finance Co. Ltd.
According to the ED, the coordinated operation spanned multiple locations linked to the firm and its associates.
The case pertains to suspected violations of FEMA regulations by the company, which is engaged in chit fund and finance operations across several states.
ED officials first inspected Gopalan's residence under renovation in Kodambakkam, Chennai, before proceeding to Neelankarai.
The agency conducted searches at the organisation's office and Gokulam Grand Hotel premises located in Kozhikode, Kerala.
Further investigations are under way, and the ED has stated that more details will be revealed as the probe progresses.
