ED questions former state PFI head

Chennai: Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Thursday took Mohammed Ismail, former state head of disbanded Popular Front of India (PFI), for interrogation after searching his residence at Purasawalkam. They also searched a house in Periamet and the office of a bimonthly magazine. ED officials did not reveal why the search was conducted. Sources said it was related to hawala transaction charges. The sleuths searched Ismail’s house from 9am to 1.30pm. Later, he was taken to the ED office for further interrogation. TNN
