A disproportionate assets case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was filed by the
Vellore
detachment of the DVAC on Wednesday.
NGO Arappor Iyakkam
had recently filed a complaint with the agency demanding a probe into the disproportionate assets of the minister.
In the FIR, the DVAC stated that that from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2021, Veeramani had amassed huge wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. This was in his and his mother's name, the agency said.
Based on election affidavits, the DVAC has calculated his disproportionate assets in the period to be Rs 28.78 crore. This is 654% of his total income during the period, the DVAC said.
