CHENNAI: The city has been experiencing consistent sharp spells since Tuesday night due to a well-marked low pressure hovering closer to Kanyakumari region. IMD has forecast light to moderate rains to continue over the city for the next 24 hours.
According to IMD, Nungambakkam weather station recorded 41.4mm while Meenambakkam registered 55.6mm so far.
While late night and early morning rain have been the weather pattern so far this season, experts said that short spells may continue in intervals throughout the day.
As the weather system is likely to move towards Lakshadweep coast, meteorologists have forecast a week-long dry spell for coastal Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, starting likely from November 3.
