Drunkard held for killing wife in Ezhil Nagar

CHENNAI: A

30-year-old man

was arrested on

charges of murdering

his wife and claiming she committed suicide at

Kannagi Nagar

on Sunday.

Bhaarath, 30, of

Ezhil Nagar

in Kannagi Nagar, is a painter while his wife Monisha, 24, was a domestic help.

He picked up a fight with his wife whenever he came home drunk. On May 20, during such a fight, he strangled her. He then took her to

Government Royapettah Hospital

claiming she committed suicide. Though, police intially registered a case of suicide, postmortem confirmed it to be a case of murder.

Based on a complaint from his mother-in-law, police arrested Bhaarath. The couple have a six-year-old son.
