DMDK functionary hacked to death in Chennai

CHENNAI: A DMDK

functionary

, who informed police about a ganja peddling gang six months ago, was hacked to death by a gang in Chennai on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as A Raj Kumar of Moogambigai Nagar at

Anakaputhur

in Pallavaram. Raj Kumar was a

DMDK

youth wing functionary.

He was running a tailor shop near the Anakaputhur bus stand.

Around 11pm on Monday, Raj Kumar closed his shop and was riding on his two-wheeler when a six-member gang intercepted him. Raj Kumar recognized the men and tried to run away. The gang chased him and hacked him to death.

On being alerted by passersby, the Shankar Nagar police reached the spot. They sent the body to Chromepet Government Hospital for postmortem.
