District administration convenes meeting on tribal settlements at Kottur

The district administration is set to roll out a comprehensive

development programme

for 13 settlements in Kottur. The decision was made in a meeting convened by district collector K Vasuki at collectorate in which officials from various departments participated. It was following the visit of collector to these settlements in November that the meeting was convened. As a first step, the new bridge being constructed at Valippara near Podiyam will be opened by August 2018. The assistance of department of agriculture for farmers in settlements who

suffered agricultural loss

during Ockhi cyclone will be distributed by December 27.

A study on malnutrition in kids will be conducted by the community health centre, medical college and will be submitted by January 15,2018. The

birth certificates

of all kids in settlements will be distributed by March 30, 2018. Steps will be taken to erect

BSNL towers

in 13 settlements. A sub centre will be opened for new community centre being opened at Mannamkonam.
