Dispute over 47lakh: Abducted Dubai firm staff, his lover rescued
Chennai: A 29-year-old man, who allegedly misappropriated money from a manpower agency in Dubai since he was not paid his salary for six months, was abducted along with his girlfriend when they returned to Chennai. After an attempt to kidnap them from the airport was foiled on Dec 26, the Tamil Nadu-based family members of the manpower agency proprietor detained the couple on Dec 28. The couple has been rescued, but the two suspects — Jayamohan and Arun Pandian — are absconding.Police said the victim, K Sarathkumar of Subramaniyapuram in Trichy, was employed as an accountant and administrator at a private manpower agency in Dubai for the past seven years. His girlfriend was a club dancer in Dubai. According to Sarathkumar, he was not paid his salary for the last six months, following which he misappropriated around 47 lakh from the company's bank account.When the couple landed in Chennai on Dec 26, the agency owner, P Jayamohan, and his brother-in-law, V Arun Pandian, intercepted Sarathkumar and his girlfriend at the airport and attempted to forcibly take them away in a car.
Bystanders alerted the police, and all four were taken to the St Thomas Mount police station. They were let off after they gave written statements.However, Sarathkumar's brother, Saravanakumar, contacted Chennai police control room from Trichy on Monday night, alleging that the couple were being illegally detained. Police rushed to a house at Thiruthanigai Palace in Dhanalakshmi Nagar, Saligramam, and rescued the two around 11.30pm. Virugambakkam police launched a search for Jayamohan and Arun Pandian.
