Dinakaran 'supporters' prevent Jayalalithaa's niece from entering Poes Garden residence

NEW DELHI: Late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar was on Sunday morning stopped from entering her aunt's residence allegedly by supporters of Sasikala's nephew TTV

There were chaotic scenes outside the 'Veda Nilayam' house as police tried to keep away a crowd of people gathered there. . The residence of the late CM is a bone of contention between her relatives and the supporters of her long-time confidante Sasikala who's currently in jail.

Jayakumar said her brother Deepak had invited her to her late aunt's residence for a religious ceremony. She added that Deepak was already inside the house when she arrived.

Meanwhile, Deepak confirmed over the phone to Times Now that he's indeed inside his late aunt Jayalalithaa's residence. He also said that the 'Veda Nilayam' residence in

Poes Garden

belongs to him.

"Jaya is my only aunt. Poes Garden belongs to me," said Deepak, about the house.

Jayalalithaa's niece said that she won't leave the area until her brother comes of the house.

Number 81, Veda Nilayam, Poes Garden, is a 24,000 sqft bungalow. After Jayalalithaa's death last December, it came to light that she had not left a will. This led to both sides - Sasikala on the one hand and the Jayakumars on the other - staking claim to the property that's valued at upwards of Rs 90 crore.
