The state government has already offered a solatium of Rs 7 lakh to the family.
Letika Saran garlanded the portrait of the cop and offered her condolences to Prema and her children Ashok Kumar (13) and Sindhubharathi (9).
She later told reporters at Puliankudi police station that free education for the children has been arranged. The school where the kids are studying has offered to educate them without collecting fee, while an engineering college in Kovilpatti has come forward to offer free higher education. Prema would also be appointed as an office assistant in the police department at Sankarankoil itself.
On the progress in the case, Letika Saran said that so far seven accused have been remanded. Five of them were arrested by the police while two surrendered. "The police are in the lookout for seven more persons, two of them key accused,'' she said. Special teams have been sent to neighbouring districts to nab them.
