of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar, on Friday floated a political party -- MGR-Jayalalithaa DMK (

MJDMK

).

He unveiled the party’s name at Jayalalithaa’s memorial on Marina Beach here.

On March 17, Madhavan announced his decision to float a political party. He then said he had taken the decision to float a party since "evil forces" had been operating the MGR Amma Deepa Peravai - the outfit floated by his wife.

A few days later, Madhavan said he was going to float a party as he wanted his wife Deepa to be the chief minister of Tami Nadu.
