CHENNAI: The Union govt should declare the landslides in Wayanad a national disaster and extend all possible help to the affected people, CPM Tamil Nadu state secretary K Balakrishnan said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Balakrishnan said Union home minister
Amit Shah should refrain from trying to politicise the disaster which claimed several lives.
He said, “The
IMD is under the control of the Union govt. But it does not have the advanced technology to predict excess rainfall and the technology to predict landslides.”
He said Shah playing the blame game when Tamil Nadu experienced heavy floods was not acceptable.
TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai also demanded that the
Wayanad landslides be declared a national disaster.
