CHENNAI: Southern Railway cancelled several
trains
departing from Chennai on Monday and Tuesday after
cyclone Vardah disrupted power supply. It partially cancelled several trains coming to Chennai.
When trains are cancelled, passengers can get full
refund
of fare from the originating station within three days. For a curtailed journey, full fare for untravelled portion can be obtained.
Passengers holding paper tickets can obtain the refund by surrendering the ticket at the nearest passenger reservation centre by obtaining a ticket deposit receipt (TDR) from the station master or ticket checking staff. This receipt may be submitted to the chief claims officer, Southern Railway, Moore Market Complex, V Floor, Park Town, Chennai -3 for arranging refunds.
Tickets purchased online should be cancelled through IRCTC procedures detailed on the IRCTC website.
