CHENNAI:
Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit has donated one month’s salary to the
Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund
to help people affected by
cyclone Gaja.
The governor visited the cyclone-affected delta districts last week. “Cyclone Gaja has brought in its wake heavy devastation and damage to several districts of Tamil Nadu. Purohit, who toured the districts of
Nagapattinam
,
Tiruvarur
and
Thanjavur
to comfort the people in the cyclone affected areas, saw for himself the hardship faced by the people,” said a statement released by Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
“The governor has contributed his November salary to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to help alleviate the sufferings of people and to assist in relief and rehabilitation efforts,” said the statement.
