CHENNAI: Automobile major Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), through its CSR arm - Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) -- has contributed Rs 1 crore towards the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Fund to help people affected by
cyclone Gaja.
A cheque for Rs 1 crore was handed over to chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami by HMIL's MD & CEO S S Kim, who is also the chairman of the CSR committee.
Senior officials of Hyundai and its CSR arm were present.
"We are deeply pained by the damage and devastation caused by cyclone Gaja to the lives and properties of people in coastal and delta districts of Tamil Nadu. As a social conscious and responsible organisation, we decided to strengthen the efforts of
Tamil Nadu government in carrying out
relief measures," said Kim in a statement issued on Thursday.
