CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday declared a public holiday for six districts -- Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar and Tuticorin -- on Friday due to heavy rain and strong winds triggered by cyclone Burevi.
“To compensate for the holiday, the government offices will function on January 9, 2021,” said a government order.
