Crackdown on racing: 10 held; 9 bikes seized

Chennai: At least 10 youths were arrested and nine bikes seized by the city traffic police last week during a drive targeting riders engaging in overspeeding and stunts on city roads during odd hours.This follows reports of youths staging stunts at Moolakadai and Murasoli Maran flyovers last week. The Kolathur and Pulianthope traffic police teams registered cases and tracked down the youths.Besides the 10 arrested, the drive also identified four minors. They were summoned to the station along with their parents and given a warning.In another accident, reported on March 23, the Adyar traffic police arrested a drunk driver who crashed his car into four two-wheelers near a mall on Rajiv Gandhi Salai on OMR. He was remanded in judicial custody. TNN
