As he incurred loss, Thanu had to pay 2 lakh to the theatre owner. As the producer did not pay the amount, David moved the principal subordinate court, Nagerkoil seeking directions to recover the amount with interest.
In 2013, the court ruled in David's favour, following which he filed a transit and execution petition before the assistant city civil court to transfer the case and recover the amount. "Thanu has spent several crore on making the movie Kabali and he has the sufficient resources for repaying David," said Elangovan, David's counsel.
On Tuesday, judge K Ganesan ordered his arrest for not following court orders.
