Cops create awareness on varicose vein

Chennai: Traffic police and the public held a walkathon organised by Rela Hospital and the Rotary Club of Madras Mount on Saturday to create awareness about varicose veins.
The walkathon, titled ‘Let’s Win Over Varicose Veins – Walk for Well Being Walkathon (WOWW)’, started at Besant Nagar Beach at 5.30 am. Clad in white and khaki uniforms, traffic police carried placards with a message on the importance of walking to prevent varicose veins.
Doctors from Rela Hospitals explained that maintaining a healthy weight, walking, exercising regularly and wearing medical-grade compression stockings when necessary can prevent the onset of the disease.
Dr Ilankumaran, CEO of Rela Hospitals, said, "Walking is a great way to improve circulation and keep our veins healthy."
