Lipstick row: Chennai's only woman dafadar transferred due to 'coming late to office, not carrying duties'

CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Corporation on Wednesday said city's only woman dafadar, posted to escort mayor R Priya, was transferred due to administrative reasons.

In a statement, the GCC said the woman dafadar S B Madhavi was not transferred to Manali zone due to any personal reasons but only due to administrative reasons. "

The memo only had questions on her violating rules of the mayor's office, coming late to work and not carrying out office duties.

The memo had no questions about her personal choices nor did the officials investigate her on her personal choices," the GCC said. The dafadar, in her response to memo from mayor's office on Aug 6, had alleged that she was told to not wear lipstick and not to talk to anybody, calling it human rights violation.
