Congress demands JPC probe into allegations against SEBI, Adani Group

CHENNAI: A probe by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) should be conducted into the Hindenburg report against Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Adani Group, Congress spokesman Sandeep Dikshit said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai on Friday, Dikshit said the Hindenburg report was a matter of concern as the allegations made were dangerous for India.

The change in the pattern of a watchdog organisation like SEBI, which should have the trust of the people including the middle-class people who are investing in shares, was a matter of concern, he said.

Dikshit demanded the resignation of SEBI chairwoman Madhabi Puri Buch. He said though Madhabi Buch claimed that her firm Agora Advisory had been non-functional after she assumed charge as SEBI chairwoman, the firm had in fact made a revenue of Rs 3.71 crore and that she held 99% share in that firm.
