Collector warns kin of women councillors

Chennai: In a warning to male relatives of women councillors, Chengalpattu collector A R Rahul Nadh said the district administration will cancel the resolutions passed by panchayat council or panchayat union if it is proved that it was attended by the male relatives of women councillors.
There have been several complaints after the local body elections that the husbands of the women councillors are running the show and conducting daily inspections.In some places, the male relatives even call themselves councillors. Citing a letter from the state rural development and panchayat raj director, the collector said the male relatives of female councillors should not function in district panchayats, panchayat unions and village panchayats.
