CM Stalin inaugurates civic projects worth 44.8cr in Kolathur

Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin on Sunday inaugurated a series of civic infrastructure projects worth 44.88 crore in Kolathur constituency under the North Chennai development scheme.

The projects included three projects completed by Chennai metropolitan development authority (CMDA) at a cost of 28.25 crore, three projects by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) worth 4.15 crore, and upgraded sewage pumping stations executed by Chennai metropolitan water supply and sewerage board (CMWSSB) at 12.48 crore.


Among the key projects inaugurated by CMDA were the upgraded Murasoli Maran Park, the Kalaignar Centenary Coin Memorial, the Mudhalvar Padaipagam and modern library at Jawahar Nagar, and the Kolathur modern market complex on Paper Mills Road. The Murasoli Maran Park, developed at 4.20 crore on Perambur High Road whereas the Mudhalvar Padaipagam and modern library were built at a cost of 4.75 crore on a 4,127sqft site in Jawahar Nagar. The Kolathur modern market was constructed at 19.30 crore on Paper Mills Road on a 61,230 sqft site.

Under GCC projects, the chief minister inaugurated a women's gymnasium built at 49 lakh in Jawahar Nagar, a multi-purpose building with two fair price shops at Ramana Nagar built at 41 lakh, and a new school building at Srinivasa Nagar in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar zone constructed at 3.25 crore under the MLA constituency development fund.

Stalin also inaugurated upgraded sewage pumping stations across Kolathur executed by CMWSSB at 12.48 crore. At another event at Don Bosco School campus on Pallavan Salai, the CM distributed welfare assistance to 3,200 Muslims ahead of Ramzan. He also distributed laptops and certificates to 85 students who completed Tally training at Anita Achievers Academy, sewing machines and certificates to 320 women who completed tailoring training, and spectacles and clothing to 200 people who underwent eye screening at Kalaignar Eye Hospital.
