CHENNAI: In a major bureaucratic shake-up, the state government on Tuesday transferred 23 IAS officers, including Chennai corporation commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni. Additional secretary, finance,
D Karthikeyan is the new corporation commissioner while Lakhoni has been shifted to the Metrowater as its managing director (MD).
The reshuffle was long expected as many officers had completed over three years in their posts.
The transfers were delayed owing to the three-month-long electoral roll revision, which got over only on September 15. As per the Election Commission’s rules, no official involved in the process should be transferred while the exercise is on.
One transfer that stood out was that of Tamil Nadu Housing Board MD Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, with whom housing secretary Ashok Dongre had a running battle.
