CHENNAI: Presidency College in Chennai on Wednesday launched a music club on the campus to curb rowdyism among students and to channelise their energy. Music director Dhina inaugurated the club.
Recently, the city colleges came under scrutiny after two groups of students from Pachaiyappa's College clashed on road with deadly weapons over a “route leader issue”.

After that, the police and college managements have been taking various initiatives to mentor the students.
"When we asked students about their favourite programme in the college, many of them said ‘Sea Breeze,’ which is an annual musical event by Laxman Sruthi troupe. Our students have natural interest in music. We want to give them a platform to perform and prevent them from turning anti-socials," said
The club plans to conduct competitions among the members. "Those who win in the competitions will be provided with musical instruments and encouraged to participate in the musical competitions," he added.
