Chennai’s Kalakshetra to host dance programme based on Annamacharya’s poetry

CHENNAI: A classical dance performance by seven prominent dancers -- Ananda Shankar Jayant, Anupama Kylash, Deepika Reddy, Gopika Varma, Satyanarayana Raju, Sharmila Biswas and Viabha Arekar -- will be held at Kalakshetra Foundation from 6.30pm on Sept 11. Titled Tamrapatra Live, the performance is based exclusively on Annamacharya’s poetry and will feature Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Odissi styles.The show is being presented by the Union ministry of culture and Shankarananda Kalakshetra in association with the Kalakshetra Foundation, Chidambaram Trust and Samanvay Festival.
