CHENNAI: A woman climbed up a 200ft-high tower and threatened to end her life as the Poonamallee all-women police were reluctant to register a complaint against her husband. She was later rescued by fire personnel.

Police said Rajula, 40, approached them to file a complaint against her husband Rajesh, 42, of Thiruverkadu. Rajula left her husband a few years ago due to a family feudand moved to her hometown of

Rajula returned to Thiruverkadu on Friday and picked up an argument with her husband. Following this, she complained to the Thiruverkadu police, who advised her to go to the Poonamallee all-women police station. However, when she approached the Poonamallee police, the failed to register her complaint.

In a fit of rage, Rajula climbed up the mobile service provider tower near the station premises. She climbed up to a height of about 80ft and threatened to jump to death.

Police officers urged her to come down even as Rajesh, their children and relatives panicked as she refused.

who requested the police to rescue Rajula. A team of fire and rescue personnel climbed the tower and rescued her. Later, the all-women police personnel promised to take action on her complaint immediately.
