Chennai woman, lover arrested for murder of her husband
CHENNAI: The Rajamangalam police in Chenani have arrested a woman and her lover on charges of murdering her husband. The arrested duo have been identified as Chithra of Bhavani Nagar in Kolathur and her lover Dhanasekar, 39, of Red Hills.
Chithra’s husband Rajasekar, a truck driver, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Nov 1.
Rajasekar and Chithra, who have a 17-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, allegedly had had heated arguments over her relationship with Dhanasekar, who is the owner of the truck which Rajasekar was driving.
On Nov 1, Chithra alerted her neighbours that Rajasekar suffered a heart attack and was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up. Chithra and the neighbours rushed him to a nearby private hospital. Doctors found injuries on his neck and informed the Rajamangalam police. The body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
The postmortem report revealed that Rajasekar was strangled. The cause of death was ruled as murder.
Chithra was arrested on Thursday. During questioning, she confessed to having murdered her husband. Chithra revealed that she and Dhanasekar had plotted to murder her husband. On Diwali, after Rajasekar allegedly threatened her, she invited Dhanasekar to their home. Chithra and Dhanasekar strangled him. Once Rajasekar fell unconscious, Chithra pretended that he died of a heart attack.
