CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) have announced traffic diversions to facilitate repair works of a road cave-in after a sewage pipeline burst at Astabujam road intersection on Perambur Barracks Road. Officials said that a sewage pipeline (1000 mm diameter) burst led to the cave in during the early hours of Saturday after which authorities from Chennai corporation and Chennai Metro Water and Sewerage Services Board inspected the area.

A traffic diversion was made after the officials said that the road repair work would take at least a week's time. Following road works, heavy vehicles and MTC Buses will not be allowed towards Perambur Barracks Road due to the pothole.

Heavy vehicles and MTC Buses coming from Purasawalkam and Vepery, will be diverted at Doveton towards Hunters Road and Choolai High Road and arrive at their destination.

Motorcycles and light motor vehicles on Perambur Barracks Road coming from Doveton junction intending to go to Otteri junction, should take compulsory left turn at Astabujam Road junction via Venkatesan Bakthan Street and arrive at their destination.

Motorcycles and light motor vehicles on Perambur Barracks Road coming from Doveton junction intending to go to Pulianthope, should take compulsory right turn at Astabujam Road junction via Astabujam Road and Angalamman Koil street and arrive at their destination.
