CHENNAI: A policeman will keep an eye on D Satish inside Puzhal prison round-the-clock. The move is aimed at preventing him from taking any drastic steps or being attacked by other inmates inside the jail.
As per the request from the CB-CID officials probing the murder, the prison officials have deployed three policemen who will watch and monitor Satish's movement in three shifts.
Satish was treated at the prison hospital for injury after some lawyers and members of public waiting outside Saidapet court complex, where he was produced, attacked him for killing the girl for refusing to accept his love proposal.
It may be mentioned here that P Ram Kumar who murdered 24-year-old software professional Swathi, of Sourashtra Nagar in Choolaimedu, on June 24, 2016, at Nungambakkam railway station ended his life inside the prison hospital by biting into a live power cable. This became a controversy as several people alleged that Ram Kumar was killed inside the jail.
The prison officials have also planned to keep Satish in a separate enclosure to avoid being targeted by the fellow inmates.
Meanwhile, Satish's family members have moved out of their home.
