Cyclone Fengal Highlights: Puducherry declares holiday for schools, colleges amid heavy rain
Cyclone Fengal made landfall near Puducherry, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported. Coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Andhra Pradesh are witnessing heavy rainfall and strong winds.The IMD stated that the cyclone, located over the southwest Bay of Bengal, is moving west-northwestward at 7 km/h. As of 11:30 PM on November 29, it was approximately 210 km southeast of Chennai and 210 km east of Puducherry. Wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting to 90 km/h, are expected during landfall.Authorities have issued warnings for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in coastal Tamil Nadu and adjoining Andhra Pradesh districts, including Nellore, Tirupati, and Chittoor.
