Chennai rain: Chembarambakkam reservoir shutters opened again
CHENNAI: The public works department on Thursday noon opened the shutters of the Chembarambakkam reservoir as the catchment areas received heavy rain since Wednesday night triggered by cyclone Burevi.
The inflow into the reservoir reached 2,050 cusecs (cubic meters per second). The storage level stood at 3,172 mcft (million cubic feet) at 10am. The full capacity of the reservoir is 3,645 mcft.

The PWD is releasing water at the rate of 1,000, initially. Depending on the inflow, the quantum of water being discharged would be increased or decreased, said an official. People living on the banks of the Adyar river were alerted.
After five years, the shutters of the reservoir were opened on November 25 when the water level reached 22 feet in the wake of heavy rain caused by cyclone Nivar. The shutters were closed on November 29.
